İZBAŞ'S PRODUCTION JOURNEY IN ITS 40TH YEAR

Founded in 1984 under the name of Leather Industrialists Building Cooperative, İzmir Free Zone has become one of Turkey's most important production and export hubs over the past 40 years. The Zone, operating with a 90% occupancy rate on an area of 1.62 million square meters in Menemen district, ranks 10th in terms of transaction volume among the 19 free zones in Turkey.

Having been a member of the first Board of Directors of the cooperative established in 1984, Eyüp Sevimli, Chairman of the Board İZBAŞ-İzmir Free Zone Founder and Operator Inc., stated, "As one of the free zones in Turkey that creates the highest value-added on a large scale, we are proud to contribute to the Turkish economy and exports with our investor-friendly management model."

EMPLOYMENT OF OVER 6,000 IN 205 COMPANIES

Eyüp Sevimli, recalling that İzmir is one of the world's oldest export and trade cities with a history dating back 8,500 years, stated that the İzmir Free Zone, named after this heritage, now hosts over 6,000 employees in 205 companies with both domestic and foreign capital. He noted that İZBAŞ, which adopted the title "İzmir Menemen Leather Free Zone" in 1997 and focused on export-oriented production, changed its name to "İzmir Free Zone" in 2011 as a result of its growing potential and strategy to open up to non-leather sectors. Sevimli added that İZBAŞ, the founding and operating company of the Zone, provides a quality production environment for investors and employees by implementing all infrastructure and municipal services.

ADVANTAGE OF SECURED BUILDING AND LAND SUPPLY

Highlighting that the availability of secured buildings and land is one of the primary reasons for choosing the İzmir Free Zone, İZBAŞ Chairman Eyüp Sevimli continued: "Our region, located just 45 minutes from the center of İzmir, is also preferred for its qualified workforce. Positioned 30 to 40 kilometers from the Aliağa ports and İzmir Alsancak port, we are making steady progress towards becoming a cluster center in the renewable and clean energy sector, particularly in the production of wind turbine blades. We see our vision of being a 'Green Free Zone' and our environmental sensitivity as an indispensable element of our competitive structure. We completed 2023 with a transaction volume of 1 billion 221 million dollars and exports of 548 million dollars, ranking 10th among the 19 free zones in Turkey in terms of transaction volume."
