147 YEARS OLD GERMAN GIANT BÖLLHOFF LAYED THE FOUNDATIONS OF İZBAŞ INVESTMENT

The foundations of the factory investment of Böllhoff, the world's leading manufacturer of fasteners and industrial processing systems, in Izmir Free Zone (İZBAŞ) were laid.

Founded by Wilhelm Böllhoff in 1877, the company continues its operations with 14 production facilities in 25 countries today. The factory, designed by the famous architect Şükrü Kocagöz from Izmir, is expected to cost approximately 850 million TL and will be commissioned in the third quarter of this year.

90% OCCUPANCY, SELECTIVE BEHAVIOR

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, İZBAŞ Chairman of the Board Eyüp Sevimli emphasized that there is very limited space left to be allocated for new investments in the Region, which has reached a 90 percent occupancy level. Underlining that they are extremely meticulous and selective in their meetings with company representatives who want to invest, Sevimli said, “We give priority to investments that create higher added value for our country and our city, are environmentally friendly, respectful of people, consider energy efficiency, focus on exports, and introduce our country to new technologies. When we look at it from this perspective; We attach great importance to the fact that Böllhoff, the world's leading manufacturer of fasteners and industrial processing systems, with a deep-rooted history of 147 years, has made its investment in our region.” said.

“WE NEED MEN WHO HIT PICKAXES”

Pointing out the importance of foreign direct investments in solving the problems experienced by the Turkish economy, Eyüp Sevimli pointed out that a growth model based on consumption has no chance of sustainable success. Noting that Turkey needs factory investments that target production, create employment and produce added value, Sevimli made the following assessment:

“As I emphasize in almost every speech, the people our country is looking for are 'men who hit the pickaxe'. While making this investment, Böllhoff took steps by relying not only on the advantages of İZBAŞ, but also on the investment environment of our country. We know that the journey of life and production is a never-ending art of learning. Founded in 1877, Böllhoff is a company that has been researching and learning how to produce better and higher quality products for 147 years. I think that our companies operating in the same sector have very important knowledge and experience to learn from Böllhoff, a global company, and to share with Böllhoff. Our citizens who immigrated in the early 1960s made a significant contribution to Germany, our most important foreign trade and export partner, reaching its current level of development. After 60 years, it gives us great pleasure to witness this journey of development and industrialization in which our countries join hands. ”

ALL SUPPLY FROM TURKEY

Böllhoff Chairman Michael Böllhoff, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony together with the company's senior executives, said that they aim to put the investment, which is expected to cost 850 million TL in total, into operation in the third quarter of this year.

Informing that all of the products to be produced in the İZBAŞ factory will be exported to this country to be used in Böllhoff's facilities in France, Michael Böllhoff stated that all the employees will be Turkish personnel and all supplies from molds to raw materials will be provided from Turkey.

Noting that they took many parameters into consideration when making the İZBAŞ investment, Böllhoff continued his words as follows:

“İZBAŞ's proximity to Izmir city center, northern and southern ports, and its solution-oriented professional staff were effective in our investment. China and Far Eastern countries started to become disabled in industrial production. Turkey stands out with its labor costs, logistics advantages and proximity to EU markets. These features are a great advantage for us. All of the products to be produced in this factory will be exported for use in our facilities in France. We are extremely pleased to invest in Turkey and the warm interest we have received in this beautiful country. “We look forward to starting production as soon as possible.”

Following the speeches, the first mortar for the foundations of the Böllhoff Izmir Factory was laid by Eyüp Sevimli and Michael Böllhoff.
